Squeezing loads of fun into the last weeks of summer!

Monday was Family Appreciation Day at the Spruill Library. The kids had the best time watching a Puppet Show, petting miniature horses, petting dogs that are part of the local pet therapy programs, running through the Fun Bus, and eating Popsicles and frozen yogurt..YUM! We ended the event with a picnic in the car.

Tuesday we ventured to Stone Mountain! We watched the new 4D Yogi Bear movie. Ethan kept his ears covered, but loved getting sprayed. Emily didn't like any of it and kept sticking her head in my lap. Everett didn't care at all. Elena was totally beside herself giddy! She laughed the whole time!
We visited an awesome museum inside Stone Mountain Park that all the kids enjoyed. Elena had studied a unit last year on the earth's layers and plate movements and such...this was an entire museum about that. We watched a video inside a pretend cave about the creation of Stone Mountain. All 3 big E's were watching it very seriously! When we emerged from the cave, there were boards showing pictures of the different phases of Stone Mountain's creation. Ethan was paying attention during the movie because he walked from board to board and said, "First, hot magma, then become rock, then erode, erode, erode, TA-DAAAA...Stone Mountain Park."
Emily and Ethan enjoyed cooling off in the little stream while big sister Elena made her attempt at the rock climbing wall!

Elena is on the far left. She gets about 1/4 of the way up, looks down and then decides it is not worth it. VERY cautious child. :)

We ended our Stone Mountain day in a classroom learning about reptiles. The kids got to hold a corn snake...

a toad....

and a box turtle! The teacher was so kind to us! We were the only ones in there and she spent an entire hour answering each child's questions. Elena asked for paper so she could take notes. She was concerned about forgetting everything. She made three columns and filled the entire sheet with information about all three creatures we learned about! So cute. The teacher asked for Elena to come back during the school year. We plan on it!

Wednesday we went to the Avenues to meet Becky, Bobby, and Leslie for story time at Barnes & Noble then have lunch at Which Wich sandwich shop.

Ethan and Emily preferred the train table to the story time. Elena volunteered to help the story teller. She was SO excited about this. It was extra cute.

It is always so nice to spend time with friends!
Wouldn't you know I brought the camera and the battery died...so here are pictures from my cellphone for the...
Thursday outing at Duluth's Brown Bag Lunch Summer Series at the Fountain! The kids were happy to be back at the fun fountains on the Duluth Square!
A juggling act was performed numerous times and the kids were selected to stand beneath the flying bowling pins! Elena was one of the selected... see the pink suit in the middle?
There was also some fun balancing acts!
Grama, Grampa, Nana, and PaPa were there to enjoy their grand kids. What fun family time!
While picnicking, we were visited by a very hungry mouse. This was more entertaining to Ethan than the juggling act!
Couldn't resist the cuteness of the shoes all lined up with kids and PaPa in the background playing in fountain...so fun.
We were so happy that Amanda could join us with her two sweet girls, Lana and Daphne. It only made our day that much more special!
Friday we spent at the pool with the Denton Boys and their Mama, Andrea. Another fun day in the sun with picnicking and pool play!
Friday was a perfect pool day! The kids played and picnicked with their friends David and Wesley.
The kids took the time to search all the skimmers and rescued 2 frogs. This was GREAT fun for all of them. Loads of squealing as the frogs jumped to safety...or back into the pool.

After the pool, we all headed over to Becky's for more play time with MORE friends! There were 10 kids in the house and only adults, but we managed quite well. :)

Ethan enjoyed some quiet time playing on his Godmom's (Andrea's) iPod.While at Becky's, Andrea and I helped her sort out her Thirty-One Party order I hosted for her last weekend. What FUN to look through the stuff people ordered as we sorted it all out!
Saturday we spent the day at my Uncle Thad's lake house with Uncle Thad, my cousin Brandon, my sister Jenn, my nephew Will, and then our gang of kids with Daddy.

Everett enjoyed the fresh air.
Emily enjoyed the attention from her Aunt Jenn.
The big kid cousins enjoyed time on the jet ski and being pulled on Big Bertha by Brandon and Daddy. Elena kept yelling, "FASTER"...she is definitely my child!

Ethan was happy floating in the lake in his little blue floatie. He would chase after the jet ski as they took off. He also enjoyed his time on the jet ski.
It was beautiful day, even if we had to take a rain break mid afternoon. It was great to spend a lazy afternoon with family.
WHEW! What a week! Emily was exhausted by it, but we were ALL in bed on Saturday night by 9:00!

Thanks to all our family and friends that made our week extra special! I love making Summer Time Memories with the kids! :)
