Field Trips a plenty!

Friday of the week before last: First was Homeschool Day at Stone Mountain. This was far better than I thought it would be.
The train education was excellent! Elena learned the hand motions to start forward, back up, and stop the train.
Everett was quite happy on the train trip.
There was more to be learned at the Memorial Hall regarding the carving and the Duck Ride vehicles from WWII that we were planning on riding.
Emily enjoyed her pumpkin festival fun. Nana helped her make this scarecrow.
Elena got to drive the Duck vehicle for a bit.
Friday this past week: Amanda took us to the zoo! Thank you!!! The kids loved seeing so many animals. Everything seemed to be so active.
Monday of this week: Everett had his 4 month check up and all four kids got shots...they are showing off their band-aids here.Later that day we meet Becky and Bobby at Fernbank! Thank you Becky!!! We have awesome friends that are willing to share their annual passes with us. :)

Wednesday of this week: Atlanta History Center

The homeschool day had activities that focused on the works of John Muir...it was wonderful!
The kids collected leaves, flowers, plants from the grounds at the center to put in their own leaf press and create their own book marks.
We also learned about the many herbal and medicinal uses of plants that the Native Americans and early settlers of Georgia used. Some of them are still used today! Elena was fascinated by that.

Friday: Consolidated Gold Mines in Dahlonega

We actually went down into a 100 year old gold mine! We learned a lot about the history of Gold mining in Dahlonega as well as the different techniques.

Elena, PaPa, Mommy, and Everett panned for gold. We didn't strike it rich, but we had fun!

Thank you to my friends for letting us tag along using their memberships! Also, thanks to Nana and PaPa for being great Field Trip assistants! We are truly blessed and we NEVER forget it.

What fun!! I wish my parents would come more places with us. They are 3 hours away but maybe I could meet them in ATL more often. Can't wait to see you guys!
